Vipassana Info is a not-for-profit website, free to read, with no advertising. It offers chants, suttas, teachings and simple practice guides in plain language, in Thai and English.

Where the content comes from

The Pali comes from the Mahāsaṅgīti edition of the Tipiṭaka, copyright free (CC0) from SuttaCentral, with Bhikkhu Sujato’s English (CC0) used to check meanings. Chants that are not in the Tipiṭaka were checked against public-domain chanting books. Every page lists its sources with links.

Who translated and wrote it

The chants and suttas are machine translations made directly from the original Pali. The pages that explain teachings and practice were written new, with machine help, from the sources listed on each page. Nothing is copied from another published translation or book. None of the content has yet been checked by an expert.

If you find a mistake

The translations are unofficial and may contain mistakes. For serious study, please check them against the canon and with those who know. If you find a mistake, please tell us.

Who we are

Vipassana Info is an independent, non-profit website made by amateurs. We are not associated with any Dhamma or vipassana organisation, meditation centre, temple or university. We are lay people, not ordained monks or nuns, and we do not represent any religious organisation. The pages give general information based on our own understanding of the Dhamma and of vipassana; for guidance in practice, please consult a qualified teacher.
